I related so much to this story!! A truly poignant, poetic and powerful narrative that teaches some of life’s most important lessons about mental health and learning to embrace who you are. Katie reads this story in an engaging way … her emotion and enthusiasm reveals her truly personal and authentic connection to the story, making it all the more powerful … a joy to listen to. I was brought to tears! It’s so relatable, compelling and easy to understand for both children and adults. I definitely plan on sharing it with my children some day! These are very important concepts and lessons that can’t be instilled early enough!

Although I`’m way past chidrens`age, this story speaks directly to my heart. It feels as if it was written especially for me. I am so happy that it was published first as an audio book, so that I can listen to it many times to soak up effortlessly these magical words – these gems of universal wisdom.

When I heard this book for the first time, I could relate so much to the character Gem and how she felt not fitting in at school.
Gem felt left out because she was different to everyone else but then realised this was her power and she became a hero!
Reminding us all that we don’t have to be the same as everyone else to shine our light, it actually shines brighter when you just accept who you are and the power you have within.

This story is beautiful. We just got it this morning and my kids have asked to listen to it multiple times. But each time both my husband and I just kept remarking about how wonderful the story is. It’s all about self-acceptance/self-love and owning who you are. And it’s told in such a beautiful way. Thank you Katie for sharing your gift with us it’s wonderful.

This book is pure magic. A must read for not only your children but for you as well. It’s a transformational experience with a powerful message of owning and accepting who you are. Have your tissues ready because you cannot help but be deeply moved by this beautiful story. Highly recommend!

There are so many books out there for children, but only a few that will last a lifetime. There’s only a few the kids ask about all the time. Katie’s book is one of them. From the first time I read this book to my kids, they would ask me about the characters for weeks because the story was one that they loved. It’s a generational book that you know your kids will read to their kids because it combines life lessons, wisdom, and knowledge through a beautiful story. This book isn’t something that you should get for your kids. It’s something you need to get for your kids.
